April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month
April is the designated month of support, remembrance, and healing for all children and survivors of abuse, as well as families who have experienced abuse and neglect.
Though we recognize Child Abuse Prevention in April, our commitment to providing a safe environment for all is year round.
This year, we are encouraging all to wear blue on April 27 (Blue Sunday). Blue Sunday is a day where places of worship across the nation are asked to join in a day of prayer and support for healing families affected by abuse as well as to renew their pledge to prevent future abuse from happening.
To maintain a safe environment, the Diocese of Reno requires all volunteers, employees, and clergy to be current on their training and their electronic background checks. Working together, we can help prevent abuse in our churches and pray for healing in our communities.
During National Child Abuse Prevention Month, we pray for continued healing for the lives of all who are affected or indirectly affected by abuse.
