DESCRIPTION:We walk in Reno in union with the pilgrims that walk to the Shrine of Our Lady of Champion in Wisconsin.  This Shrine is the site of the only Church approved Marian Apparition in the United States. \nAdele Brise\, the young immigrant woman who saw Our Lady in 1859 in rural Wisconsin\,  never swayed from her mission to teach the children the Catholic faith\, no matter the hardship. She carried the messages of salvation\, healing and grace on the back of her perseverance. This awe-inspiring determination continues to captivate the faithful\, guiding them to the National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion on their spiritual journeys. It is the Walk to Mary’s intention to continue the mission she started.

SUMMARY:Blue Sunday: The National Day of Prayer for Children and Families affected by abuse
DESCRIPTION:Blue Sunday\, April 27\, the National Day of Prayer for Children and Families affected by abuse. This day calls for all denominations to pray for healing and the end of cycle of children and vulnerable adult abuse. \n \nCelebration Activities:\n\n\nStickers: We will be distributing stickers to parishes\, with the hope that pastors will provide them to their teams for distribution to parishioners. \n\n\nPostcards: We will be sending out postcards to active and compliant users of Virtus\, expressing our gratitude for their efforts. Additionally\, asking them to wear blue to show support for victim survivors and promote abuse prevention.  \n\n\nWear Blue: Parishioners are encouraged to wear blue on Blue Sunday\, and parishes are encouraged to promote this in April bulletins.\n\n\nPrayers of Intention: Include specific prayers in April masses for those affected by abuse. For Example: “For parents\, teachers\, catechists\, youth ministers\, and coaches\, that they may be vigilant to the signs of trauma or abuse in all under their care\, we pray to the Lord.”\n\n\nBlue Pinwheels: People are encouraged to decorate their yards and parish offices with blue pinwheels.\n\nNovena: We will be hosting a pre-recorded Novena for Child Abuse Prevention which will be available on the High Desert Catholic website.\n\nThank you to all who help protect children and vulnerable adults.\n

SUMMARY:Novena in Memory of Pope Francis
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe entire Church mourns the death of our Holy Father\, Pope Francis. In cathedrals\, basilicas\, parish churches\, shrines\, and chapels\, the Holy Eucharist will be offered for the repose of his soul. Communities and individuals will ask God to bestow his infinite mercy on the man who served the Church as Bishop of Rome. This novena has been prepared to help pray for the Pope during this time. The daily novena—lasting for the novendiales period as directed by the College of Cardinals—consists of a short reading from Scripture or some other ecclesiastical text and some brief prayers\, including orations drawn from the Roman Missal and the Order of Christian Funerals. \nNOVENA
