At its best, artificial intelligence reproduces information that is currently available. As we all know, not all available information is correct or helpful. Thus, AI will continue to be subject to potential flaws. Even if these flaws could be eliminated, AI would still primarily be an informational source.
Human beings intuit knowledge of one another through many more sources of information than just verbal communication such as body language, intonation, actions and so forth. AI is incapable of providing this additional knowledge.
Communication with Jesus is about communion, not just information. For that reason, AI will not work because it cannot establish a committed relationship; it is an inanimate technology.
Artificial intelligence can actually damage a person’s faith journey by feeding the deception that believing is only an intellectual pursuit. Thus, one can falsely believe that they are growing in faith when, in fact, they are only growing in trivia.
